Blue Cube Gallery presents

Natural Resources

Dawn Ertl and Mary Beierle make immersive installations and sculpture by focusing on techniques and subject matter that investigate the dynamics of nature. These techniques include the manipulation of materials that effects our assumptions of what natural means. Although inspired by didactic reasoning, the artists insist that their work is left open to personal interpretation. Their installations are notable signifiers of invested time and labor. By exploring the concepts of ecology within the modes of craft culture the works reference post modern theories by provoking thoughts on how humans use the environment. These works focus on concrete questions that threaten our existence.
